Emily’s* journey toward recovery began on October 23, 2023, when she met Jessica, a HopeLine Care Coordinator. At the time, Emily was living in the woods, struggling with substance use and survival. Jessica found her in a fragile state, but despite everything, Emily was ready to take a step toward change.
Getting to treatment wasn’t easy. Jessica spent nearly three hours helping Emily pack her belongings, a process made even more challenging as Emily was actively using meth. When they arrived at the treatment facility, Emily emptied her bags onto the floor, requiring another hour to sort through what she could bring with her. Despite the long and difficult process, Jessica stayed by her side, ensuring she got the help she needed.
After completing her initial treatment program, Emily transitioned to a recovery center, where she found the structure and support to rebuild her life. Today, she is thriving, living with her partner and holding a steady job. Most importantly, she now welcomes her grandchildren into her home—a powerful reminder of how far she has come.

Thanksgiving 2024 was especially meaningful for Emily. Thanks to the generosity of Crossroads Church’s Thanksgiving Food Drive, she and her family shared a holiday meal together without worry. For Emily, recovery isn’t just about breaking free from addiction—it’s about reclaiming the moments that matter most.
One year into her recovery, Emily’s story is a testament to the power of persistence, support, and second chances.
